    Year 11 students and parents are invited to join staff online on Tuesday 21 March to find out more about course and career planning, how to apply, resources to support students through their studies, and life as a uni student. Register now.

    Do you know a Year 11 student interested in studying a university subject in Semester 2, receiving a selection rank adjustment, and gaining potential credit towards a future degree at QUT? We’re hosting our START QUT Information Webinar on Tuesday 28 March. Register now.

  • A Quick Guide to QUT: For Year 9 and 10 students and parents 
    Students and their parents are invited to a dedicated Year 9 and 10 information session on Tuesday 18 April. We'll cover career planning tips, differences between school and uni, course information, and admission pathways. Plus, hear from current QUT students about their uni experience and ask them questions. Register now.

  • QUT Engineering Our Future
    Join us at our Gardens Point campus on Saturday 25 March for an engineering experience day. For students in Years 4–12, it will open their eyes to a possible career path in Engineering. Find out more.

  • Medicine Information Evening: Save the Date
    Learn about studying Medicine at UQ. Hear from leading medical experts, UQ alumni and current students on the changing medical climate, how to apply for medicine at UQ, and tips for success. 
    This event is open to Year 12 students and their parents/guardians.

  • Career Pulse: Save the Date
    Years 10, 11 and 12 students are invited to participate in engaging and interactive career-focused sessions at UQ’s Career Pulse event, which will be held in-person at St Lucia campus in 2023. Find out more.

  • Experience UQ Skills
    Experience UQ Skills is a full day of hands-on, interactive workshops at UQ Gatton for Years 9-12 students considering vocational study in agriculture, animal care or rural operations (including VETiS, certificates, diplomas and traineeships). Find out more.

Current vacancies can be found on the Traineeship Vacancies Notice Board.

These change on a weekly basis as new positions become available.

Students who cannot find anything that appeals to them in these vacancies need to source their own employer.

Defence Force Work Experience Program

The Defence Work Experience Program provides opportunities for young Australians interested in a career at Defence to gain exposure to the type of work that is available.

Opportunities are available for both secondary students and you must be at least 15 years of age at the time of the placement.

Students in Year 11 can apply for external study options to enhance their career options.  Students need to ensure they have good time management skills to cope with the workload. 

GeSS Educationcourses and pathway options.

TAFE and Trade options fill fast and so students need to apply ASAP to secure a place in their desired course.
