Year 3's "Out-of-this-world" Excursion to Planetarium

Pimpama

Year 3 had an out-of-this-world experience at the Brisbane Planetarium. We got to visit the Sky Dome where we had an up-close look at the Sun and Moon, deepening our understanding of seasons, day and night and eclipses. To add to this day we wandered around the beautiful botanical gardens enjoying God’s amazing creation. Here is what some of our students had to say about the day:

Before we went into the Star Dome we were able to explore around the planetarium. I liked looking at the piece of mars and the small rocket and astronaut information.”  Maddison

“ I learned that the real colour of the Sun is white. I also learnt that in 15 years there will be a Solar Eclipse in Brisbane. A Solar Eclipse is when the moon is between the Sun and Earth, this is different from a Lunar Eclipse.”  Olivia

“I enjoyed the show because it was interesting!” Joseph

“My favourite part was when we got to go to the show and he showed us the solar eclipse and one thing I learned is that the hottest stars and suns are the blue ones and our sun is actually white.” Xavier
