Year 4 Culminating Event - Caine's Arcade

Pimpama

During Term 2, our Year 4 students at King’s Pimpama embarked on a mission to explore Newton’s 3 laws of motion and apply this knowledge in creating their very own cardboard arcade game. This was inspired by the famous ‘Caine’s Arcade’ that was created by a young boy in America.

Our students had a specific design brief to meet, and they had to learn to work with people that they may not usually work with. In this, we were able to see their ability to engage, problem solve and work towards a common goal.

They had so much fun in the process and we believe learned an incredible amount. The best part of the process was having our very own Year 2 students come and visit our ‘Year 4 Arcade’ at the end of term. This was held in the auditorium where we could explore some lighting and music to create a real arcade vibe. Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed their visit and said to their teachers that this "was the best day ever."

A fun time was had by all, and Caine’s Arcade was an incredibly successful event.
