Year 9 Camp 2022 | Cairns & Great Barrier Reef

Secondary

Year 9 headed north to tropical Cairns to explore the Great Barrier Reef and local attractions for their camp in Term 3. This tour is designed to celebrate the students' Middle School journey and transition into Senior School. It was great to see students make the most of this opportunity and create memories to last a lifetime. The majority of students agreed the highlight of the trip was snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef. They were able to tick this off their bucket list with some of their best friends as they explored the coral reef and searched for turtles and other exciting creatures beneath the water.

Other activities that students experienced, included:

  • The Great Barrier Reef - Marine World Pontoon
  • Cairns ZOOM and Wildlife Dome - Wildlife Presentation plus Mid and High ZOOM
  • Cairns Aquarium
  • Cairns Lagoon and Esplanade Walk
  • Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas - 4-mile beach
  • Hartley’s Crocodile Adventure
  • RainForeStation - Kuranda. This includes the Army Duck Ride through the Rainforest and Lagoon and the Dreamtime Walk.
  • Skyrail - return to Cairns via the Skyrail from Kuranda.
"Going to Cairns for the first time with my friends was an experience that I will never forget. I feel so lucky to attend a school where we have lots of opportunities to challenge ourselves and grow as young adults. We learned about ourselves and each other and we definitely became even closer as a cohort during our trip. Thanks to the teachers who helped to make our trip so amazing - I can’t wait to see what Year 10 camp brings next year."
